A King Size Bed That Houses Everything

The challenge here was to design a bed that had headboard storage with integrated lighting, 4 large pullout storage drawers, could hold a hundred pairs of shoes, was easy to assemble yet sturdy and good looking.

This project required a surprising amount of design from an Arts and Craft(ish) style to multi-function storage.

Making it easy to assemble was required to get it into the bedroom.

Sometimes a lot of old school woodworking is required like this extensive use of extra long clamps.

It makes all the difference when a non-standard design is required.

Some projects have to be test fitted to ensure they work in the space. We had to make some mods to the design to make that happen.

It's all part of the custom design process.

Even their 15 year old dog got into the act so we knew the design was a winner.

Next up was selecting the type of finish and under the bed storage options.

It didn't take long before the homeowner said where can I put all my shoes?

So it was back to the design desk to come up with an integrated solution. A big part of truly custom work is making sure the final project achieves everything the client wants it to.

The solution was a shoe display rack which sparked quite the discussion. One of the spouses decided that 80% of the shoe storage should be their's so that left the other with about 2 shelves.

Custom design furniture brings such harmony to a family but it's all part of the charm and the challenge to meet everyone's needs.
